We recommend that all kitchen products be washed by hand and towel dried.
Aluminum
Pan Bottoms:
Doughmakers®
and Grandma’s Touch®
Pans are made of solid heavy-gauge aluminum.
The aluminum pan bottoms are best used for baking purposes only; i.e.
cakes, brownies, squares and bars. Aluminum
is not suitable for highly acidic foods or food storage.
We do not recommend using the pans for water bath recipes, a technique
the French call bain-marie, which refers to the method of placing a pan of food
in another pan with water in it to stabilize the heat reaching the food such as
custards and sauces. Avoid using
non-stick sprays since they can create a sticky buildup;
A solid shortening usually works best.
Wash the pans promptly by hand with warm, soapy water and dry completely
with a soft towel before storing. Care
should be taken in the selection of utensils used for cutting and serving items
from your pans, to avoid scratching the pan.
Our wooden utensils offered in the
Kitchen Shop are a perfect match for your new pans.
Aluminum
Pan Lids:
Doughmakers
and Grandma’s Touch personalized
lids are for decoration and display only. Do
not place the lid in a hot oven or wash them in a dish washer.
Wash the lid promptly by hand with hot, soapy water and dry completely
with a soft towel before storing.
Wooden Kitchen Utensils:
Do not wash the utensils in an
automatic dishwasher. This can case
warping and cracking of the wood. Utensils
should only be placed in water long enough to clean them.
After washing your utensil for the first time, let it dry completely,
then lightly sand with fine sandpaper or buff with a Scotch-Brite™ pad to
remove any roughness. Rub on
mineral oil regularly to protect your utensil for generations of use.
Crystal
Ornaments
All of our ornaments are made
of fine quality optical crystal. Care
should be taken when removing dust and fingerprints to avoid scratches.
Treat the ornament as you would a camera lens or watch crystal.
Do not use harsh solvents or abrasive cleansers.
Marble
Tiles
Marble is a very hard and
durable material but it is porous and stains easily. Wipe off anything spilled
on marble immediately, just as you would from a wood surface.
Occasionally wipe the marble surface with a sponge dampened with plain,
lukewarm water and wipe dry with a clean cloth.
Avoid using harsh or abrasive cleansers since they can scratch the
polished surface. Some cleaning products can stain the etched area causing
permanent discoloration.
